Stephanie and I have been planning this shoot for a while, but this weekend we finally got to this shoot, though it was a bit impulsive. Saturday evening I asked Stephanie if she was keen to do the gipsy / bohem-inspired fashion shoot in near future and she answered that Natalia, her older sister was doing a stylist assignment at school (Norsk Fotofagskole) with just the theme we had been planning for. Though the shoot had to be on Sunday because the assignment was due this week. Natalia was glad to hear that I could do the shoot for her.
The first location Natalia had planned was around the rural area of Moholt, but I didn’t feel that it add the right atmosphere for the shots I had in mind. Instead thought back to the first years when I first moved to town. I lived at Voll Studentby a student village, not far from the model and regularly went for walks in the area. and remebered one of the trails in the area with some vacancy, but was still open enough for the right mood I had pictured. They both agreed that we should try my location. After 45 minutes of shooting, the clouds drifting in and changed the light we worked with and we were kind of done with four costumes.
Below are some of my shots with a Minolta Dynax 7 (analogue camera) from 2004. At that time I mostly shot film and the cheapest way to get the shot digitalized was with a DIY contraption consisting of a black tube with home made film dias. The first photo is of Kjetil Høiby scanned with his film scanner, and the two following was shot with my DIY contraption.

Here are the rest of the photos I shot of Elise S from Trend Models at Øysand earlier this winter. Dress-designer and stylist was Malin Wannebo Varslott, make-up was done by Ann Karin Williams Aastø from www.ourstyle.org.
A couple of weeks a go I did a model test with Elise S for Trend Models. I also did a location shoot with her at Øysand the following day, shooting dresses for designer Malin Wannebo Varslott. Helping me out with make-up was Ann Karin Williams Aastø from OurStyle.org. Kudos to Elise for not complaining about the cold weather.
Also for this fashion photo shoot we did a short video teaser, enjoy!

At 12 minutes past 12, the 12th of December, 2012 the world premiere on the Hobbit was showing on Nova Kino in Trondheim. A lot of fans had dressed up in amazing costumes and I was there documenting for Trondheim Kino.

Here is the fifth part of the hair show at Julecup 2012. Hair dressers from Oi Hår og Velvære and stylists from Norsk Fotofagskole did the hair, make-up and styling for this show. Lighting on the catwalk wasn’t very photographic friendly casting hard shadows and on the models faces and clothes, but I found a few spots that was even lit and tried to concentrate on shooting my photos when the models were in those specific areas.

Third part of the photo documentary I shot backstage at Oi Hår og Velvære’s hair show at Royal Garden.
I got some questions yesterday about equipment I used when I worked. It’s not a big secret and most of the gear I use is listed on the left hand side on my blog. For pure documentary I use mainly the Nikon D800 + MB-D12 (battery grip), a Nikon Nikkor 35mm f/1.4G. In my camera strap I have three 32Gb Sandisk CF cards, I believe they are of the version Extreme 60MB/s, and an Eye-Fi 8GB Pro X2, which is of today, officially supported using the D800 in direct mode by Eye-Fi and with the firmware version 5.0018 and above. As an backup in my camera bag I also have one Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D and a Nikon Nikkor 24mm f/2.8D. Both lenses are light weight an is of the prime type, no zoom. If I know I have to shoot some fast action, like a catwalk or sports (God forbid), I also bring my Nikon D700 and the 70-200mm f/2.8G VRII. The D700 with the MB-D10 battery pack and an EN-EL4 battery the shutter rate is greatly improved to around 9-10 fps. Even though there is only 12.2Mpx on the D700 the files have been usable for the four years I had the camera and should still work for those kinds of photos I am shooting with it now.
I have also recently bought a DSLR Video rig from Gini Rig Extreme 17 for shooting more videos. It’s currently being tested for small projects such as the backstage where I used just the follow focus, a 15mm, 12 inch rod, the base plate and a Zacuto Z-Finder 3.2″ view finder. Even with stripped setup, the rig felt kind of heavy. Also another con with this rig is that it is quite difficult to balance without weighting it down to much. In addition to the counterweight that was included in the set, I bought another 1,6kg counter weight, but still not heavy enough. The fully assembled rig will be put to the test next week when i am shooting a music video. Oliviatech and Cheesycam has published a review of the Gini Rigs a year ago. The rig has since been improved, but worth a visit if you are interested in such. Stay tuned, mean while, enjoy the backstage video from the hair show.
Last weekend I was in Orkdal photographing Hanne Lillery (Trend Models). We headed out to this open field whit the fog from the river as an backdrop. Here is yet another fashion portrait of Hanne. Enjoy!

After judging a graduation at Trondheim Kickboxing Klubb (TKBK) I headed off to Royal Garden to shoot backstage and catwalk for Oi Hår & Velvære and their show there. Around thirty models were styled according to the hair styles from the 1920 until today.
Yesterday I meet up with the guys from Tempo, a newly formed band, in Trondheim to shoot some promo pictures for their new single Deilig (12.12.12). The band consist of Thomas Løseth (vocals), Daniel Mandal (guitar), Andreas Nergård (drums) and Ole Adrian Heggli (keyboard).
This weekend I was in Orkdal for a short stop and photographed Hanne Lillery from Trend Models. When the sun is at high noon in the autumn part of the year, the river Orkla evaporates rising into the cold air and makes a beautiful, foggy landscape, that fortunately for us used as a backdrop today. Here is a little preview from todays shoot.
