Rachel Nordtømme

Having a double booking because your brain sometimes overflow can happen. At this shoot with Rachel Nordtømme I had just did that. To maintain the pace and production in addition to studying, I had a goal to have at least one extra photo shoot a week so keeping track on what deals I had done with what models was a bit of a challenge. The other model I also had made a deal with that evening was Trine Eide. Luckily for me Line Sofie Steinfinsbø was up for the challenge doing hair and make-up on both models. I remember Rachel was a bit of an underdog when she discovered that Trine also was going to model at the same time, but I calmed her down telling her to watch Trine and she might pick up some tricks. I believe Rachel did great on this shoot showing of a more bad ass attitude than she does in for instance Adressa’s Advent Calender with Rachel Nordtømme;)

Keeping the cost reduced by having the model bring some of their own clothes is a great way to practicing photography. My main goal in having to do photo shoots, or something with photo each day, even Sundays or in the holiday is to get better at it. One cannot get any better without practice. By doing shoots as often as you can, the different techniques you obtain can be applied when it really counts, both when it comes to lighting your scene and setting up your camera, but also the experience by directing a model finding out what works and what not to do. The look it self on the final result does not really depend on what the model is wearing or what make-up he or she has put on, it is what you manage to have your model to express that gives the image interestingness. Okay, you need to have some idea of what clothes to bring and what to put together, but all in all for practicing, it doesn’t really matter. Rachel had an okay wardrobe and we stuck with what she had.

Last winter, 2011) when I still was a student at Norsk Fotofagskole, I did a photo shoot with blogger and hurdler Rachel Nordtømme. Fixing hair and make-up was Line Sofie Steinfinsbø. Here are two more photos of Rachel from this shoot. First time I shot photos of Rachel Nordtømme was right before Christmas 2011, with her big sister tagging along. Rumors has it that Rachel is soon to be an aunt. Congrats!

After yesterday’s program of “Skal vi danse” (Shall We Dance) on Norwegian TV2, I have some questions about posting a compilation thread of all the images I have photographed of on of the participants in the program, Rachel Nordtømme. I was even at work yesterday and didn’t get to watch the show, not that I would have if I had been at home, but the newspaper critics to read, she came up the next weekend. Good luck Rachel!

Here is a picture of Rachel Nordtømme I photographed early spring. The image is going to be used as a huge sponsor sticker on her car or something like that. The picture was taken on the track at Øya in Trondheim. The ambient light was still a little too bright for me to get to freezeher properly at the moment so you can see some movement by her feet, but it’s like that when you work under pressure and need to get a job done. The image isa also illuminated with three Nikon SB-900 Speedlight flash units and a Elinchrom Ranger. At the shoot I brought along Oscar Stoltenberg Johansen and Ingrid Marie Nymoen as assistant photographers helping me out setting the light properly.

Rachel was unfortunately injured during a competition this summer, but is now back on his feet ready to dance her way to fame in the TV-show “Skal vi Danse” running on Norwegian TV2, hopefully all autumn.

Today is my last day in Mo i Rana for this time. I’ve been here since Sunday night and finished the job for three o’clock before I turn my nose north to Bodø and an approximately four-hour drive over the mountain. I will be in Bodø just a day before I travel by plane back to Trondheim and home again to relax this weekend with lots of photo shoots with some other models than students to have a photo on the school’s certificate.

Third part of my photo-series with Rachel Nordtømme I did in the beginning of February. Makeup-artist and hair was done by Line Sofie Steinfinsbø.

Hipster.no

Yesterday I was at Kos Bar&Lounge and Club Vega for Hipster.no. It was a bit stress full, but I got to meet quite a few interesting people that was having a nice evening. The pictures are being post-processed by a Hipster and are coming on-line Monday morning.

Traveling again

Tickets for both Oslo and Århus is now payed. I am going to stay in Oslo for three days photographing Truls Svendsen and hopefully Rachel Nordtømme for my assignments at Norsk Fotofagskole. I’ll be back next Wednesday with my hard drive packed with raw-material for post processing.

This is the second part of my fashion series I shot with Rachel Nordtømme last Sunday. Makeupartist is Line Sofie Steinfinsbø whom I used on quite a few photo shoots the past months. Shoes are borrowed from Bianco Footwear at Trondheim Torg, other styling is Rachels own wardrobe.

Reporter for TV2

Rachel had a bit unfortunate picture in yesterdays newspaper so I figured I’ll publish two more to compensate somewhat strange face mimics VG-photographer André Pedersen managed to catch her with. Hopefully Rachel would be more pleased with these two portraits I’ve published of her. The story was about Rachel Nordtømme, being Petter Northug’s girlfriend, covering the World Ski Championship for TV2. Want to know more about the World Ski Championship, head over to www.oslo2011.no. This is probably one of the few times I will promote this form of sports on my blogg.

Nå har jeg registrert meg på Bloggurat.

I couldn’t take my hands of the pictures today and had to run one through post production despite fever, head ace, soar throat and a running nose. I liked this portrait of Rachel Nordtømme very much because of her relaxed expression, the wind machine gave the hair a little breeze to lighten the mood and give the portrait more dynamic instead of just an anti-posed posture.
Makeup and hair is done by Line Sofie Steinfinsbø.

Fun fact about Rachel Nordtømme

Yesterday she was awarded the most sexiest Trønder 2010 by UtAwards, an award show that she also was hosting yesterday. Congratulate her at Rachel Nordtømme

A bit too early after being ill for three days now I shot two fashion series with Rachel Nordtømme and Trine Eide a bit like the ones I shot of Oda Nordheim last Sunday. Today, my makeup artist Line Sofie Steinfinsbø, started with laying makeup and doing Trine’s hair. After a while Rachel arrived and got her hair and makeup done while I was photographing Trine. A helpful Sascha Njaa helped me rig the studio, both setting up the flash heads and meter the light.

Between the takes we got serious and shot some amazing pictures.
