This is a photo from my last photo shoot in Denmark before Christmas. The model is Siri Nordheim Jensen from Modelbureauet Modelbooking. Helping me out with make-up and hair was Anja Aarestrup Lund. This particular shot of Siri was taken outside Yellow Cock Studio with a SB-900 mounted on top of the camera.

As a Christmas gift from me to me, I bought a color calibrator for my screen. Hopefully my photos will come out better in the future. I ordered one unit from Netshop.no today, but I don’t think I will receive it before Christmas eve.

Jennifer Hansen – Model Testing – Part II

This is my part two from the fashion photo shoot I had with Jennifer Hansen, Modelbureauet Modelbooking in Århus. Styling, hair and make-up was done by Malene Micha Juhl. For these particular photos we wanted a cheeky, careless feel, a bit Kate Moss, heroin chic.

Orbis Ring Flash

Today I received my Orbis Ring Flash-gadget converting any speed lights into a ring flash. I haven’t had time to test it out yet, but I am planning two photo shoots this weekend. The difference between the Orbis Ring Flash and the more known Ray-Flash is that the ring it self is lit from beneath instead of forcing the light through a maze of mirrors before lighting the actual ray. Stephanie Bäckström – Your Rainbow Panorama – Part I

Okay, there has been a lot of black and white images recently. Here comes the first part of a little more colorful model testing I did in Aarhus, at the art museum Aros (www.aros.dk) in what is called Your Rainbow Panomrama by Olafur Eliasson, opened 28 May 2011. We agreed with officers the day before to get the photograph to our portfolio and they said it was okay.
The model at the photo shoot was Stephanie Bäckström, who I have done a photo shoot with before. She is represented by Modelbureauet ModelBooking (www.modelbooking.com) in Aarhus, but is currently studying psychology in Aalborg. Styling, hair and makeup was done by stylist Maria Schläger Jensen, a talented girl who has done many good styling jobs for various photographers earlier. The first part of the series is more classic women’s fashion magazine-style and was photographed in the blue part of the art installation.
Since we agreed with the museum that there would be no fancy flash and big stuff around the photo shoot, I ended up using the 35mm f/2.0 and 50mm f/1.4, and a stripped Nikon D700 during the entire recording. I also used a SEKONIC 758DR, my light meter that is included in nearly every photo shoot I do. Some of the images have reflected light from a small reflector, otherwise there was not much that could help me get to the pictures.

Rasmus Michelsen is represented by model agency Modelbureauet Model Booking, located in Århus . Rasmus has worked as a model for several years with a small short stay. We borrowed clothes from Ei’kon, a clothing store in Århus which we also used as a base, and worked on location in the area around the cathedral, for they who are known. We were lucky with the weather, light breeze with a heavy layer of clouds. The day before it was pouring down and windy.

On this particular shot I worked mainly with the 35mm f/2.0 and 50mm f/1.4, Nikon, throughout the entire photo shoot, sometimes with the help of a small reflector and then.

Two weeks ago I had a fashion shoot with Carina Velvet, Trend Models, in a small grove of Leangen in Trondheim, where I photographed and filmed a bit. Here is the result of the film I made and the last two pictures from the shoot. The soundtrack on the clip is composed by Akira Yamaoka and is from Silent Hill 2, the Playstation game. Make-up and hair was done by Annette Rian Skjølberg.

The pictures was shot with a Canon EOS 1D Mark III and the film clip was shot with a Canon EOS 5D MkII, 50mm f/1.8 and a 24-105mm f/4L. The zoom-lens in combination with the MkIII weren’t as sharp as I’d expected in these conditions. Quite soft all over. From the EXIF-data I read that I had a shutter around 1/125s, an aparture of f/5.6 and the ISO was 800. All frames are natural lit with only a reflector to light brighten up a bit.

In an hour I have my final shoot with Marion Dyrvik Homlong for her portfolio for Miss Earth, down town Trondheim. Looking forward to it. Have a nice weekend!

Kristine Hove Røsok – Svart

Here are two portraits I shot of Kristine Hove Røsok in April this year. The idea behind the pictures are not very deep, I would mainly do something I usually used to do, paint the model black. The light is relatively flat to give the smoothest possible background and to bring in the most detail where it is black, that is, most of the picture. It is these situations I’m glad I’m standing on the back of the camera, considering that Christine had to go through the whole city after we were done. I can not recall, but I think she had washed off most of the black paint before she left.

As you may see in the pictures is the main light is positioned in the opposite angle than the light diagram I have attached the thread. I also photographed at an aperture f/6.3 so the light measurements contained in the diagram is also incorrect. The reason is that the chart is copied and reused from a previous shoot with Marion Dyrvik Homlong (2010) where I used almost the same set-up. However, the diagram can be used as a kind of recipe to replicate the images. Hope it comes in handy.

Filming Liv-Miriam Nordtømme

After work today I drove with my boss to Kristiansten Festning and met Liv-Miriam Nordtømme, the author of fysionett.blogg.no. Here we did a photo shoot and a recording of some video clips Liv-Miriam is going to use on her blog demonstrating simple and easy home exercises. Vegard Blakstad, my boss, and the photographer behind this image served as assistant during the shot handing me the lenses and made sure that the light was perfectly reflected on the face of Liv-Miriam. Photos and film from the recording comes during the week.
As you can see in the image of Liv-Miriam and me, so I use my tripod shoulder rig in order to stabilize the images as much as possible. It’s better than to shoot only handheld. Canon 5D MkII, I borrowed from my tenant, Charlotte Støle, who is also a photographer.

New metal lens hoods

Today I received a package from Kaffebrus, the Swedish web shop I usually get my camera upgrades from. I bought two new lens hoods for my Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D and Nikon Nikkor 35mm f/2.0D, both hoods made of metal instead of the rubber ones I had for just the 50mm. Since my HN-3 got a huge bulk when as a result of an tragic incident, but no other damage, I figured I should have all my lens hoods in metal, in case I drop my camera once more.

The ones I bought were the 52mm Motljusskydd to around 12$ each. I haven’t tested the 35mm with the smallest aperture that much, but the pictures I shot, haven’t had a trace of vignetting. Head over to Kaffebrus.com if you want one.

Early May I was asked to make a promo-film for Charlotte Svee Hestnes who is competing to become Frøken Norge 2011. We had about two days to complete the project giving us little time for planning anything. Anyway, the film is shot with a Nikon D7000 that I got to borrow from Nikon Norge and my Nikon Nikkor 35mm f/2.0D. Hope you like this little piece.
